Kegunaan may
1.  permission ( Izin )
Ø  You may borrow my computer anytime.
Ø  May I leave the classroom now?
Ø  May I take a rest now?
Ø  We may borrow the book in library.

2.  possibility (kemungkinan)
      Contoh :
Ø  Susi may be nervous now.
Ø  Lisa may come late to campus.
Ø  They may be married on January.
Ø  Mona may be not understand the lesson.
Ø  Joko may be sick now.
3. (larangan)
      Contoh :
Ø  We may not cheat during examination.
Ø  Students may not sleep in the class.
Ø  We may not noisy in the library.
Ø  We may not race in the highway.
Ø  People may not noisy during devout. 

MUST
Kegunaan must
1.  Keharusan
      Contoh :
Ø  You must study hard.
Ø  We must be serious in studying.
Ø  We must be active in the class.
Ø  They must work hard.
Ø  We must obeys the state’s laws.
2.  Dugaan kuat
      Contoh :
Ø  They must in the library now.
Ø  Father must be angry with you.
Ø  They must hungry now.
Ø  We must do the test well.
Ø  Jono must study hard before do the exam.
3.  Larangan
      Contoh :
Ø  You must not smoke here.
Ø  We must not noisy in the library.
Ø  We must not cast the trash in the river.
Ø  People must not race in the highway.
Ø  We must not kill the tiger.
4.  Kesimpulan atas peristiwa masa lampau
      Contoh :
Ø  The road is wet. It must have rained last night.
Ø  She is late today. She must have got up late this morning.
Ø  Mona get bad score today. She must have not studied last night.
Ø  Jono is accident. He must have race in the street.
Ø  Tono is sleepy. He must have not sleep last night.

NOUN CLAUSE, ADVERB CLAUSE, AJECTIVE CLAUSE


NOUN CLAUSE, ADVERB CLAUSE, ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

Noun Clause: jika subjek dan objek kalimat tersebut terdiri dari beberapa kata yg mempunyai subjek dan predikat sendiri.

Noun clause as subject:
What they are talking about makes me confused
Where she lives is not my concert
Whorever will attend to the seminar tomorrow has to come on time

Noun clause as object:
She didn’t understand whatever our teacher explained
We don’t know when the test will begin
I haven’t decided where i will continue my study

Jika menggunakan kata penghubung THAT, maka ia bisa di hilangkan
He hopes that they will accept his application
I gues she hasn’t heard the news yet

Noun clause as object of preposition:
They are talking about who will be the best student inour class
I am still waiting for what you will give to me
You must pay attention to what i am going to say



Adverb clause: kumpulan kata yg mempunyai subjek dan predikat yg menerangkan main clause.
Reason or purpose:
All left for home early because he had to study
Since Mr Smith was sick, he had to cancel his appointment
I sent the letter airmail so [that] he could get it right away

Result:
I couldn’t hear the speaker, so i moved to the first row
The man spoke so rapidly that i couldn’t understand him
I have such a wonderful car that i don’t want to sell it

Opposition:
Rudy bought a used car although its condition was not good enough
Althought Mr Cole is 65 years old, he is still an active man

Comparison:    
The weather is better today than it was yesterday
He looks younger than he used to

Place;
She often goes wherever she wishes
Wherever we went, we saw very interesting things

Time:
I will wait for him here until he gets back
They saw Monas when they were in Jakarta
Before the secretary leaves, she will put the letters on your desk

Condition:
I will sent your message to Mada if see her tomorrow
If i had much time, i could go with you now

       
ADJECTIVE CLAUSE
Sebagaimana yg kita ketahui, adjective adalah kata yg menerangkan kata benda atau kata ganti. Jika ket.ini terdiri dari kumpulan yg mempunyai subjek dan predikat, maka disebut Adjective Clause.

Who (Subjek-orang):
The thief who was shot by the police yesterday
Father who becomes a family leader is responsible to his family members
Mr Yudhoyono who was chosen as the president is going abroad now

WHOM (Objek-orang)
The students whom i teach come from various cities
The bank robber whom the police arrested is in jail now

WHOSE (Milik→ Orang, Benda, Binatang)
The man whose car is new my pen father       
The cat whose tail is black is not mine
Television whose impacts are very wide has become our second friend
The woman whose hair is curly is our Economics teacher

THAT/WHICH (Subjek/Objek-Benda, Binatang)
The dog that [which] is running after the cat is mine
Family that [which] consists of father, mother and children is the smallest unit of society
The cat that [which] i kick yesterday was dead
The economic crisis in Indonesia that [which] many expert have tried to overcome will be over soon
The Tv set that [which] i bought yesterday was made in Japan



OMMITTING RELATIVE PRONOUNS

          Relative pronouns dan AV bisa di hilangkan dari kalimat.
The girl whom i introduced to you is our new classmate
The boy who is playing volleyball is my son

            Dalam kalimat di atas, Relative Pronoun (whom) dan Relative Pronous dan (who is) bisa di hilangkan, sehingga kedua kalimat tsb mjd:
The girl i introduced to you is our new classmate
The boy playinh volleyball is my son

            Relative Pronouns (+AV) yg bisa di hilangkan dr kalimat adl adl:

Sebagai Objek Clause
The man whom i met yesterday was my old friend → The man i met    yesterday was my old friend
    
 The cat that [which] i kick yesterday was dead → the cat i kick yesterday       was dead

Kalimat pasif past tense:
The thief who was shot by thepolice was in jail-à the thief shot by the police was in jail
